“This digital event was a way to compensate in-person events that could not happen this year. What we experienced under the constraint of covid-19 has taught us valuable learnings and we will continue to leverage this format in the future.”

Mathieu Bigeard, Consulting and Digital Transformation Director, Jalios

The context

Jalios is a French software publisher in the field of Digital Workplace solutions : collaborative Intranet and extranet, enterprise social network, document management, ….

Jalios’s mission is to act as a “catalyst of collective intelligence”. As such, the company invests in a content-rich event strategy to gather experts together and feed an on-going discussion on the topic of digital workplace.

For the first edition of Digital Workplace Days, in the context of covid-19 crisis which makes in-person events nearly impossible, Jalios decided to go for a 100%-online event format.

Objectives

This 100%-digital event was an opportunity for Jalios to test whether online events could be as engaging as in-person gatherings, even though offering participants a different experience:

  1. Accessibility: a-la-carte content, which participants can specifically select depending upon their own interests
  2. Interactivity: repeated opportunities to interact with speakers, partners and among participants

Strategy

37 sessions available on-demand for registrants after logging-in

Jalios offers participants a rich agenda of live video sessions, broadcast throughout the 3-day event, and available for replay on-demand the next day on DWDays website.

A sample of the sessions agenda:

Contrary to a physical event, where it is a bit more difficult for participants to come in and come out of sessions as they wish, an online format gives every participant the possibility to easily and quickly pick specific sessions of interest for them, and to come back later to view the sessions in replay.

Replay is an effective means to make the event last over a period of time. Jalios can thus maintain an on-going discussion with its participants, even after the actual event has ended.

Live interactivity and networking opportunities

Video sessions, led by the speakers and a moderation team, offer participants many opportunities to interact and ask questions.

A networking module gives participants the opportunity to chat directly with other participants, if they both decided to take part in networking.

Results

300 happy participants

Over 300 participants attended the Digital Workplace Days, and this number keeps growing thanks to availability of replay.

Participants rated the event with an average score of 4,2/5.

An innovative approach which jalios now integrates in its long-term marketing strategy

“A 100%-online event now seems like a very interesting addition to the in-person format. Being able to freely choose which sessions to watch, while staying at home and avoiding public transportation: it would be a pity to miss this opportunity, now that we know that it is feasible, and convincing!” Mathieu Bigeard, Consulting and Digital Transformation Director

The success of its first online edition convinced Jalios to repeat the experience, for the next edition of its DWDays.
