Context

Created in 2019, Global Sports Week is the first France-based international sports forum that aims to connect key actors across the wider ecosystem of the international sports industry.

The event is designed not only as a networking forum, but also as a place of inspiration, discovery and innovation in the world of sports.

There are several stages on which speeches and debates are held and an “Innovation area” where event partners (start-ups, local authorities, etc.) can present their activities and share ideas.

In 2020, the first edition took place in person. In 2021, the event was held in a hybrid format, with a recording/filming platform on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower and gatherings in various cities around the world (Tokyo, Beijing, Milan, Dakar and Los Angeles), all connected via a digital platform.

At the end of this 2nd edition, Global Sports Week chose inwink to engage and manage their community throughout the year and to organize the 2022 edition of their annual forum: 3 days of face-to-face meetings at the Accor Arena, a digital platform to relay live contents, and a Hub in Los Angeles connected live with Paris for a half day.

Objectives

Global Sports Week has 3 primary objectives:

  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between the different actors of the international sport ecosystem
  • Accelerate the positive transformation of the ecosystem
  • Promote France internationally as a driving force in the sports industry

Strategy

Rich & Diverse Content for this First Hybrid Edition

The 2022 hybrid event was managed by inwink: 3 days in person at the Accor Arena, a digital platform to relay the live content, and, on the 3rd day, the Hub in Los Angeles was connected live with Paris for a half day.

In order to host such rich and diverse content (more than 100 prestigious speakers), the event provided 3 stages:

  • The Vision stage, streamed live on the platform
  • The Blue stage and the Yellow stage, both intended for presenting and discussing practical cases, were captured live then made available for replay on the digital platform

Favoring face-to-face meetings for networking and exchanges, and digital to relay content

The organizing teams had thought ahead of ways to support partners and exhibitors to help them maximize the opportunities of meeting others, online an in person, during the event.

In the weeks/months running up to the event, exhibitors had the possibility of planning meetings virtually or in person, and during the event had access to the inwink LeadGen app which is used to scan the badges of those participants they met in person.

Most of the networking took place during the face-to-face moments of the event, online diffusion was used mainly to reach a wider audience.
